[ooc: As a warning, this post contains cannibalism, blood, and all that stuff, though nothing especially descriptive.]

[The feed turns on to reveal a figure, sopping wet. A newcomer—nothing usual in itself. What might be of more interest, however, is the fact that he appears somewhat battered, with the blood running down his face making it clear that he's been injured recently.

Unsurprisingly, he seems rather disoriented as he looks around, taking in his surroundings before wiping away at the blood running over his eyes. An annoyed look passes through his face, and then—

—And then things take a turn for the unusual, as his eyes glow red and he then proceeds to grab the head of the nearest unsuspecting local.

Fortunately, his back is to his feed, his body hiding the local's, so the... gorier details can't be seen, though the blood flying from roughly where the poor person's head should be is likely a good indicator of what's going on. The sounds, at least, should make it even clearer.

Finally, he drops the now quite dead local to the ground with a thud, before turning in the direction of the SFC, his eyes back to their normal blue. The more observant might notice that he no longer seems wounded, his injuries healed.

There is also, rather prominently, far more blood splattered across his face, which he wipes at with his sleeve, leaving behind red smears.

A smirk, before he speaks.]

Well then... I suppose I should figure out where I am.

[And then his expression becomes serious, as he mutters to himself.]

[Oh, there's a newcomer again. After seeing the figure from out the window, Red quickly stands from his seat. He didn't forget to grab a Welcome Basket as he gently runs out from the committee's office.

He looks to the direction where the newcomer headed, then follows his trail.]

[... Though, suddenly. This.]

[. . .]

[Don't yell. Don't yell. Don't yell. Be calm. Despite the initial shock, feeling his heart race at witnessing this right in front of him—]

[It's sad. It's truly sad. Human or not, Red always had a weak spot whenever he sees a predator latch on their prey and eat them.

But all he had to remind himself that it's part of life. There are those who need to do this in order to survive. It's a bit tolerable when he just thinks of it this way...]

[He watches with slanted, sympathetic eyes for a while longer. He's not making a sound.

But after a small swallow of his breath, he takes a step forward quietly.]

Um... Excuse me.

Hmm?

[With all the nonchalance that only someone who's been doing this for years could have, he turns to look at Red, smears of blood still on his face.]

[He's trying to stomach this as best as he can... If he can't even look at this person in the face right now, how can he ever extend his hand for him?]

I - um, it seems that... you just arrived. Is that the case?

[But, before anything else... Red takes the towel out from the basket that he's clenching with one hand, then offers it towards Tiir.]

That would be correct.

[His tone is affable enough, if not frighteningly so given the circumstances.

—And then it drops a notch as he simply looks at the towel, a slightly disdainful look on his face.]

... Do you truly expect me to accept something from a human?

[And surely, finally, Red regains his usual self little by little. He smiles a little, but a sincere one.]

No.

[He closes his eyes a little, that smile still there.]

... I can at least try, right?

Or I can put it on the floor, step away, and you can pick it up. If that helps. It's not accepting it from me in a way.

[He's silent for a moment, because really, this behaviour is rather different from what he's used to, coming from a human.

But in the end, it doesn't matter—a human is still a human.]

As if such a petty difference would mean a thing to me.

[A stubborn one. That's okay, too. Red's dealt with many of them before... It doesn't make it much different, just because this one's a little stranger than usual. He wants to try.]

These don't really belong to me, too. They're just something I put together for people like you... I mean, newcomers.

You're not the first to have this situation. I arrived just like this, too. I only want to help, even just a little...

[Have a sardonic smile at that, Red, before he lets out a light, brief laugh.]

You want to help? Even after I just killed one of your kind?

[...] [He wants to say, "It's okay," but it's never really okay, isn't it? ... It's wrong to kill. But if this person does it in order to live, then he can't be blamed for his nature.]

Because... it's hard. I know how it feels to arrive here and not know anything... Not know where to go or what to do.

Oh? So I'm a pity case, then?

T - that's not it. I really do want to help, too. Even if it's just something like this!

[Red perks up immediately at that, but he shortly feels his shoulders drop again.]

I can't do much at all... That's why, even just a little, I want to do my best.

And again, I ask: even after I killed a human?

Yes. I'm sure that you have your reason. [Everything has a reason, doesn't it? No matter what it could be.] I won't even ask, unless you're willing to share it.

Though, I'm sure that by now, I've helped others who killed just like you. We're not the only ones who arrived here like this.

[....

There's a pause, before he takes the towel.]

That kind of attitude tends to get one outcast, you do realize.

Ah...

[Red pauses from all thoughts as he watches the other boy take the towel.

It's funny. Just a moment ago, he was honestly scared. But something about this felt a little warm. Maybe it's that feeling...

It's that nice feeling to know that he helped, even just a little bit. Even if it's just a towel...]

[... And then, a better smile. He moves a finger to one of the edges of his eyes and rubs it a bit.]

Really? I don't really notice...

[Because being the way he is? It gave him so many blessed chances to get close to wonderful people. Maybe someday, he and this person can be friends as well.]

[Why would you ever want to be friends with Tiir—]

Then you're a fool. Humans don't respond kindly to what's different from their standards.

[Because it's Red. He even befriends barnacles—]

I get that a lot...

[His smile gets weaker, but there's still a familiar determination within his eyes.]

But, I don't want to oppose what I really feel. If I am the odd one out, I don't mind.

And yet, to forgive someone who killed one of your kind... isn't that rather callous?

[For him, it's always been simple: wrong his people and you're his enemy. He can't really see the middle ground anymore.]

Like I said, I'm sure that you have your reasons. Right now, I don't have a reason to judge you. I don't know anything about you, after all...

If I started assuming things blindly, that would be callous all the same.

And how true are you to that, I wonder?

Eheh... I can't really prove something like that now. It's up to others to determine if I am or not. It's not something I can control...

This is how I really feel. A lot of people laughed at me for it, but I always felt that since we're all in the same situation, maybe we can all help each other.

I'm not asking them to help me if they really don't want to, though... But, if there's something I can do, even if it's just a little thing, I want to do it.

Ah, but it's far easier to say something like that than to actually carry it through. Coming from a human, such words are meaningless to me.
